ユニーク・ジャパンでは、現在、日本での弊社サービス運営を担うオペレーション・アシスタントを募集しています。
フレンドリーでやる気にあふれたバイリンガルの方に活躍していただけるお仕事です。

世界中の著名な日本刀コレクターの方とやりとりをしていただく、他では経験できない達成感のあるお仕事内容です。

代表取締役が直属の上司となり、会計担当者及びフォトグラファーとともにチームとして業務を進めていただきます。ほとんどの業務は単独での作業になるので、セルフマネージメントが得意な方向きのポジションとなります。

<勤務形態>
・週3〜4日の出勤(土日を含む)
・週25時間ほどの勤務時間
・1年間の更新契約
・短時間の勤務で成果を出せる方を尊重します

<オフィス/スタジオ所在地>
東京都目黒区(自宅勤務可、応相談)

<仕事内容>
・弊社スタジオにて海外クライアントとのセールスミーティング
・米軍基地への販売イベント
・日英、英日翻訳(主に日本刀や装飾品の証明書 / 上司の代理でのEメール送信)
・会議等の場での通訳
・クライアントへの商品紹介のための日本刀・装飾品・骨董品にまつわる歴史調査
・日本刀のディーラー、イベント主催者、参加者、米軍基地などとの連携業務
・小口現金管理などのオフィス庶務
・フォトグラファーのサポート業務
・日本刀の在庫管理、日本刀証書のスキャン、日本刀の測定、刀や下緒メンテナンス、オフィスの整理整頓、簡単な修理など
・日本刀/関連商品の写真投稿
・PayPalでの発注管理
・刀鍛冶の調査補助、刀装具のフィッティング、職人とのカスタムメイドの打ち合わせ
・サプライヤーや海外のクライアントへの商品の梱包・発送業務
・NBTHKやNTHK-NPO等の協会への毎月の訪問
・上司への進捗報告

Unique Japan's Operations Assistant is an opportunity for a friendly, organized and enthusiastic fluently bilingual assistant to help manage Unique Japan's service operations in Japan.

This is an enjoyable, fulfilling contract position as we have such remarkable clients from around the world interested in collecting antique samurai swords (nihonto). Many of the swords are several hundreds of years old, stretching back to the Kamakura period (13th century).

You will be reporting directly to Pablo Kuntz, the founder of Unique Japan. As part of the team there is a photographer and another assistant who manages accounting and corporate responsibility. Most of the time you will be working on your own. This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently.

On average, there are about 25 work hours per week. Working 3-4 days per week, sometimes on a Saturday or Sunday when required. One-year renewable contract. It's ideal for a candidate that is seeking unique, rewarding and interesting work without the extra long hours demanded at other companies.

Office/Studio Location
Mita 2-chome in Meguro-ku area (Tokyo, Japan) with the ability to work at home as required.

General service responsibilities
• Private sales meetings with international clients that visit our studio. Also sales event participation at US military bases from time to time.
• Translation of Japanese text into English and English into Japanese (mainly certificates of authenticity of Japanese swords and fittings plus emails on behalf of Pablo)
• Verbal translation for meetings and other situations
• Historical research of Japanese swords, sword fittings and other antiques so we can build the story of each of the items we offer clients
• Liaise with fellow nihonto sword dealers, event organizers, participants, military base contacts
• Office management and administrative tasks such as petty cash accounting
• Assisting the photographer shooting Japanese swords and related goods
• Maintenance of incoming and outgoing sword inventory, scanning sword certificates, measuring swords, cleaning/oiling swords, tying sageo knots, keeping office tidy, making minor repairs (training provided) etc.
• Post production of digital photos of swords and related goods
• Managing PayPal sales orders and order status of Daruma dolls (we operate a website called welovedaruma.com), kitchen knives and other traditional craft orders
• Assist in the research of swordsmiths, tosogu fittings and submitting custom koshirae projects to craftsmen
• Shipping, arranging and physical packing of purchased goods for customers overseas, to local suppliers in a secure manner. Communicate tracking numbers with clients, providing support.
• Monthly visits to the NBTHK and NTHK-NPO sword preservation societies for shinsa sessions
• Regular written & verbal contact to be made with Mr. Kuntz during working hours

Other
• Traveling will be required. Primarily within Tokyo region, possibly outside Japan
• All business travel-related expenses paid for by the company

Desired Skills & Experience
• English/Japanese bilingual (spoken/reading/writing)
• Japanese national and must hold a Japanese passport
• Absolute love of Japanese samurai history and culture
• Enthusiastic and confident (skilled communicator)
• PC and Mac skills (Word, Excel, with training in other associated digital software)
