JOB OVERVIEW
Nagoya University is seeking a skilled specialist to lead management of the English website of Nagoya University, create multimedia content, and implement the digital and online aspects of its international public relations and communications strategy. The person will fill a position in a brand-new university international public relations office, to begin April 1, 2022.

Primary duties are leading and managing Nagoya University’s English online presence; providing website maintenance support; planning and constructing a new English website; creating multimedia content about news and events for the English website and social media channels; and attending university events, such as lectures, conferences, and student events, to cover stories. The primary language for content creation is English but content should be created from both English and Japanese sources. The working environment will use a mixture of English and Japanese. Employment by contract, renewable for three years from hire.

An ideal candidate will have:
1) Strong web content management skills
2) Experience in the various phases of building and launching websites
3) Knowledge of website practice areas such as digital strategy, content strategy, visual design, analytics/measurement
4) Business-level English
5) Fluent Japanese skill. Ability to communicate with Japanese-speaking IT professionals in Nagoya University and external IT companies is essential.
6) Experience in graphic design and using vector graphics software, and/or video editing software would be a plus

Working hours: Monday-Friday 8:30-17:15 (1 hour lunch break included)

Working Conditions: At first, you will plan and build a new English website for Nagoya University. After that, you will continuously improve its design and usability. This will include building and managing sections of the website for current students and faculty members, research promotion, news, and prospective students. Communication and cooperation with colleagues in the Information and Communications section and the domestic Public Relations Office at Nagoya University is essential. You will also use digital tools and social media to promote Nagoya University's research and educational activities. You will find many interesting topics to promote, including new research by Nobel laureates and other highly cited scholars. Nagoya University is especially strong in Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Oceanography, Atmospheric Science, Transportation Science and Technology, Agricultural Sciences, and Mechanical Engineering. As you will be an integral member of a new international team of 5-7 people operating a new office, you will have the chance to shape a diverse and productive office culture. You will report to the director of the International Public Relations Office, who will then report directly to the Vice-President of International Affairs. Although you will come to the office most days, there will be opportunities to work from home as well. You will work at Nagoya University's Higashiyama Campus in a leafy suburb of the city. It is within walking distance of Higashiyama Botanical Gardens and Higashiyama Zoo. Nagoya Station is about 20 minutes away by subway. There are several kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and other universities in the area. For staff, Nagoya University operates its own daycare center and after-school care for elementary school children. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wishes to use their web-design skills in a challenging but intellectually stimulating environment.

Compensation: 4 million yen to 7 million yen per year. Salary will be determined based on the applicant’s experience and other qualifications. Also included are health insurance (National Public Officers Mutual Aid Association), employee’s pension, employment insurance, worker’s compensation insurance.

Preferred Personality: We are looking for someone who can work as a member of a small team in a bilingual environment. The person should be enthusiastic about the challenge of building the new International Public Relations Office.
