Background

Goodfellow is a UK-based company with subsidiary operations in the USA, France, Germany and China. The Company supplies materials which are used for research, development and specialised manufacturing applications.

The role of the Direct Sales Representative is to grow and develop our customer base through outbound call work and customer visits. They should develop a deep understanding of their portfolio customers, creating individual customer plans to sustainably grow the business within the existing customer base in the North East region of China. They would be expected to work to sales targets and KPIs for a portfolio of accounts as well as developing new business across the region.
The job holder will be instrumental in working with the General Manager and other members of the sales team to develop the strategy and direction of the Sales function.


Key Responsibilities
• To grow sales of a portfolio of customers developing new and maintaining existing relationships with those customers that will result in growth of sales and profits
• Identification of key customers from existing customer base to build existing share of the market and identification of prospective organic growth.
• To develop new sales opportunities by proactively identifying and responding to potential customers
• Achieving portfolio and group sales targets set by Sales Director.
• Undertaking frequent national travel where appropriate to attend meetings with prospective new customers together with site visits, exhibitions and events.
• Providing support to the General Manager on strategy and direction of the Sales.
• Liaison and interaction with the team in Shanghai to ensure that they meet the needs of the customers
• To summarise key activities, events and milestones for monthly reporting to Board and senior management
• To attend relevant exhibitions and customer site shows
• Managing customer relationships to develop commercial opportunities and investigate complaints and problems and to provide guidance on improving processes to ensure that issues are not repeated.
• By being aware of all group activities, to contribute towards the group wide business development and to support the Company to achieve business targets and objectives.


Key Requirements
• Experience in a peripatetic business development role.
• Strong influencing, negotiation and relationship building skills both internally and externally
• Creative and results driven
• Ability to provide technical advice to team
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Proven track record in the sales arena
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in Chinese and English
• Commercial awareness
• Computer literate
• Technical or scientific background

Reporting to: General Manager - Shanghai

Prospects:
The prospects for the candidate will depend entirely upon the success of the individual. If successful, the person appointed to this position could play an important role in the development of Goodfellow.
