Description

The Tokyo Otaku Mode Translation Services Team is looking for new members!

Here at Tokyo Otaku Mode (TOM), we share the latest Japanese pop culture news through our Facebook page, which has over 19 million likes. We also sell products related to Japanese anime, manga, games, music, and fashion through our website.

Our Translation Services Team is responsible for translating news and other texts from Japanese to English so that we can share content with fans around the world. We translate mangas, movie trailers, travel articles, and much more. We take pride in providing translations of the highest quality that our fans and clients can all appreciate.

Your Role
As a Translator, you will be responsible for translating Japanese texts from various fields and genres to English that is accurate and easy to read. As we handle a wide range of content, you may also need to perform research to gain knowledge and find keywords that will help you translate effectively. You will communicate with our team of translators, editors, and project managers to meet deadlines and successfully complete your tasks.

Requirements
・English: Native level with excellent writing skills
・Japanese: Fluent; capable of reading, writing and speaking in Japanese
・Experience in J → E translation
・Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
・Strong teamwork and communication skills
・Ability to use American spelling and grammar

Desired
・Experience in proofreading and editing
・Experience in journalism, creative writing or marketing
・Cultural sensitivity and awareness
・Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines

Work Environment
This position is fully remote. You’ll be in touch with the team, filled with friendly people who love Japanese media content, via online tools.

Work Hours
You must be available to work full-time from Monday through Friday.

Visa Requirements
You must have a valid Specialist in Humanities / International Services visa, a Spouse visa, or a Dependent visa (with special work permission).

Additional Details
The first month of employment is considered a probation period. Your initial contract will be for six months and may be renewed as long as performance standards are met. Your compensation will be determined based on your experience.
