Requirements
Qualifications, experience and expectations
* Has led projects/activities across a range of special processes
* Bachelor degree or above in a Materials related subject. Significant experience working in a laboratory / special process area can be accepted in lieu of this.
* A strong understanding of at least one type of special process and have basic knowledge for other special processes which are used within the supply chain.
* Auditor/Assessment capabilities required preferably LRQA Lead auditor accredited.
* Familiar with AS/EN/JISQ 9100 / 9120
* 2 years minimum experience working within an engineering company, ideally an aerospace company.
* An understanding of Nadcap / NUCAP would be beneficial.
* Have good communication skills and to be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally with other employees / suppliers based around the globe.
* To be flexible towards working hours and be prepared to undertake travel to support the team and role.
* To be able to work under pressure and to be able to handle multiple activities during the working day.
* To be able to work within a team environment.
Job Duties
As a Material Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the technical development of the company special suppliers to ensure the component Method of Manufacture is both stable and capable, and to ensure the flow down of regulatory and product integrity requirements. This role will present the perfect opportunity for you to expand your skill set and gain experience working with a globally renowned company.
Principle Accountability
* Approve special processing related data cards from supply chain; including Heat Treatment, Welding, Chemical Processing, Coating, Painting, Non-conventional Machining, Composite Material etc.
* Approve FAIRs (First Article Inspection Report) received by the supply chain on behalf of laboratory function.
* Audit and approve new suppliers or existed suppliers for special processes.
* Undertake special processes maintenance audits within the supply chain.
* Provide technical support for special process related issues.
* Conduct risk assessments/investigations for Nadcap related subjects.
* Actively support and influence improvement initiatives.
* Have a major input into sourcing/supplier strategy development and implementation.
* Educate and coach suppliers in the application of relevant special process specifications and SABRe.
* Interface with appropriate Design Engineering organisation to ensure product integrity.
