The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in both maintaining and operating systems built by past generations for over 20 years, as well as developing next-generation systems, including the utilization of state-of-the-art AI solutions.


The role includes the following tasks:

★★ Tasks ★★
● Responsible for all technical aspects, including the maintenance and development of all systems (existing and future) of the company.
　　　○ System design, including operations.
　　　○ Development and construction of the entire system from front-end to infrastructure.
　　　○ Cost optimization.
　　　○ Improvement of the development process.
● Alignment of the systems and development with the corporate strategy and priorities set by management.
● Project management, including:
　　　○ Conducting business requirement interviews and defining business requirements
　　　○ Defining development and system priorities with the management of the company
　　　○ System requirements definition, design, and specification creation
　　　○ Hands-on development as needed and assigning development tasks to members of the development team
　　　○ Managing development tasks
　　　○ Handling technical inquiries (system investigation, proposing solutions, technical support)
　　　○ Creating technical documents (including ER diagrams, flowcharts, and explanatory materials for non-engineers: Japanese and English)
　　　○ Researching technical documents such as API specifications (Japanese and English)
　　　○ Conducting regular one-on-one meetings to track the progress of development team members
● Recruitment planning, hiring, and training of developers and technical staff (including outsourcing).
● Team building.
● Technology selection and implementation within the engineering team.
● Backend and Frontend development management and implementation:
　　　○ Programming modifications and database design
(PHP, Go, Classic ASP, MySQL, SQL Server, Python, Mongo DB, Vanilla JavaScript, jQuery)
　　　○ Infrastructure and network setup (GCP, AWS, Cloud Run)
　　　○ Integration with payment systems (Stripe, Paypal), WMS and logistics systems.
　　　○ Configuring monitoring tools and WAF (Datadog, Cloudflare)
　　　○ Researching technical documents such as API specifications (Japanese and English)
　　　○ Library transitions (from AdminWrap to Bootstrap)
　　　○ Modernization (Vue.js, TypeScript, Nuxt.js)
　　　○ SEO optimization (markup revisions, image optimization, error resolution, etc.)

● Mostly Remote work (High-speed internet connection of 250Mbps+ is recommended for online meetings)
● Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy. Google Workspace, and Slack accounts will be provided.
● Availability for urgent communications 24/7/365


★★ Required Qualities ★★
● Strong knowledge of web systems (10+ years of practical experience is a must)
● Experience with E-commerce is strongly preferred
● Hardworking, and energetic fast learner, a creative outside-of-the-box thinker
● Strong problem-solving and organizational skills and ability to work efficiently
● Emphasis on teamwork and responsibility
● Understanding of technical ethics, general information security, and compliance knowledge
● CS degree a plus
● Excellent communication skills in Japanese (Fluency in English is a plus)
● Minimum 5 years of experience in PHP and Linux server environments
● Experience with AWS, GCP, and SQL Server
● Minimum 3 years of experience in jQuery and TypeScript
● Experience with Vue.js is a plus
● Experience with Data Science, NLP, Gen AI, and AngularJS is a plus
● Experience working with Trello, Postman and Redash is a plus
● Prior experience designing and consuming REST APIs
● Object-oriented experience is a plus
● Version control software experience (GIThub)
