The Reggio School of Tokyo is a preschool and kindergarten located in Shibuya, Tokyo, which facilitates a fun, creative, energetic, and positive educational environment for children.

Our school’s approach is influenced by the Reggio Emilia Approach: focusing on the individual child, giving them many outlets to grow in a variety of ways, and helping them to develop a lifelong love of learning.

We are looking for experienced and qualified head teachers who have the skills to thrive in a team-based setting and place a high emphasis on teaching standards and educational quality.

Teachers who have interest or experience in student-led and project-based methodology, or experience in the arts (performative or medium-based) are highly preferred.

The head teachers at RST take overall responsibility for their class and class team. They develop both long and short-term lesson plans based on the curriculum and philosophy of the school. Head teachers assess their students’ developmental growth and maintains a record through assessments, observations, and records of student’s work. They are responsible for helping the school innovate through their own new ideas and through collaboration with other teachers and professionals.

Other than the student themselves, head teachers are the number one link between the school and families. The head teacher is also responsible for maintaining the environment around their students, as well as ensuring their health and safety while in their care.


Working Conditions:
Hours: Full Time, 8:15 - 5:15 (One Hour Break), Monday - Friday
Closest Train Station: Hatsudai Station, Sangubashi Station

Head Teacher Qualifications:
-Must be a native English speaker (spoken and written)
-Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education or Bachelors Degree and ECE Certification
-2+ years teaching experience in native-language setting
-All teachers must complete a two month paid training period upon initial hiring
-Must be comfortable using an Apple computer

Starting Salary for Head Teachers is increased based on:
-Teaching License/Accreditation (Home Country or Japan)
-Experience Teaching in Accredited Schools
-Team Management Experience
-Phonics and Literacy Teaching Experience
