Umami Burger was founded in Los Angeles in 2009 and quickly became a well-regarded burger, ranking among the city's best restaurants and in the best burger category in the country. Since then, Umami Burger has expanded to San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City, and now has 16 locations in the U.S. In early 2017, Umami Burger expanded its reach further with an international expansion into Japan, the home of Umami.
