Job Summary

Johnan-Kids After School is looking for Main Teacher/Assistant Teacher who can help enhance the learning environment of our students. You will be completely responsible for your school. Meaning you have the freedom to set your own rules and create the atmosphere of you school, prepare and choose your materials, and deliver the lesson in your own style. You will also work together with our other main teachers to create fun and innovative lesson plans, and attend regular meetings to review those lesson plans.

The ideal candidate for this position is good with children, understands how they learn, and is dedicated to creating a fun, nurturing learning environment for every student.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop innovative lesson plans
• Prepare Lesson Materials
• Set the school rules
• Lead the main lesson
• Manage your assistant teachers
• Work with children in the classroom to promote their learning and development
• Collaborate with other teachers to monitor the development of each child
• Supervise the children during non-lesson time
• Handle problems in the classroom

Job Requirements

• English: Native Level
• Japanese: None
• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
• Must currently reside in Japan
• Enjoy working with children
• Energetic and enthusiastic person


How are we different

If you are coming from an ALT position you may have experienced the frustration of working with unmotivated students and outdated curriculums, however, at Johnan-kid, our curriculum is designed by our own teachers for our classes and our student’s needs. Not only that, but we get reports from parents about their children actually looking forward to coming to our school.

Working at Johnan-Kids gives you an opportunity to work with kids and make an impact on their English learning. Many schools do everything in English but students can’t follow and lose interest, our classes are designed to be able to be taught in English in an interesting and fun way, that also matches their level of understanding.

You will also be able to get to know your students. You will be the main teacher at one school.


Working Hours: Mon-Fri 10:30am – 7:30pm

Company Holidays: 122 holidays per year.

Paid Holidays: After 6 months of work you will receive 10 paid holidays
