Description

We are looking for experienced, creative, and energetic part-time English teachers for the 2025-26 weekday afterschool and Saturday kids English classes.

STRONG CANDIDATES would be those who:
・have a degree in Education
・have minimum 3 years of EFL teaching experiences with Japanese children
・have skills to develop effective lesson plans and expand on our curriculum
・own a strong desire for nurturing children’s potential through the English education, and
・are organized, flexible, and able to communicate in basic Japanese.

[Contract Term]
April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026 OR May 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026
*The start dates vary depending on positions.
*There are no lessons during summer, winter and spring breaks.
*Each class has 38 lessons per year. Classes starting in May will have 35 lessons per year.
*YMCA will inform you detailed academic schedule at the interview.

[Class Locations]
・Nagoya YMCA (Ikeshita): Chikusa-ku Nagoya. 5-min walk from Ikeshita station.
・Nanzan Family YMCA: Showa-ku Nagoya. 10-min walk from Irinaka station.

[Positions]
Days / Work Hours (Lesson Hours) / Location / Wage range:
#1: Tuesday / 16:10-18:10 (16:30-18:00) / Ikeshita / 5,400 - 5,600 yen per lesson
#2: Wednesday / 13:00-14:40 (13:30-14:30) / Nanzan / 4,000 - 4,200 yen per lesson
#3: Wednesday / 15:50-17:40 (16:00-17:30) / Nanzan / 5,400 - 5,600 yen per lesson
#4: Friday / 16:10-18:10 (16:30-18:00) / Ikeshita / 5,280 - 5,600 yen per lesson
#5: Saturday / 9:10-15:10 (9:30-15:00) / Ikeshita or Nanzan/ 13,700 - 14,400 yen per day
#6: Saturday / 9:10-16:10 (9:30-16:00) / Ikeshita / 16,300 - 17,200 yen per day
*These are all separate positions.
*For #4 and #5, we are planning to have trial lessons with new teachers in April. Once we have enough student enrollments, we will start the class in May. The teachers will be paid for the trial lessons.

[Students]
Our students are kindergarten to Elementary school age. Some classes might have junior high school age students.
The maximum number of students per class is 8 to 12, depending on the classroom size and the age group.

[Public Transportation Allowance]
Reimbursed up to ¥1,500 for round-trip per day

[Responsibilities]
Job responsibilities include the followings:
・Plan, develop, and teach engaging and enjoyable English language lessons based on our teaching curriculum and additional instructions (Teaching contents may include phonics, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing, theme study, arts & crafts, science, social studies, and P.E.).
・Select appropriate supplementary teaching materials.
・Plan and participate in special events such as Halloween and Christmas.
・Set up your classroom before your students arrive and tidy up after the lessons.
・Establish and maintain order in the classroom and a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
・Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to provide a duty of care for students and to protect and preserve all materials, equipment, and facilities.
・Communicate with parents.
・Host observing parents.
・Host trial students.

*Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview and demonstration lesson with YMCA staff.
