Job Description: Elementary School/Kindergarten Teacher

Aichi International School (AIS) is seeking fully qualified teachers to join our esteemed elementary school and kindergarten faculty. While we prefer candidates already residing in Japan, we will also consider exceptional applicants from overseas.

About the Position:

At AIS, we are dedicated to fostering both academic and social development in children. Therefore, applicants must hold a valid teaching qualification/license that covers relevant subject areas and stages of child development. Please note that this is not an "English teaching" position.

Required Credentials and Competencies:

AIS is a WASC-accredited school offering comprehensive kindergarten education and a bilingual elementary curriculum. We offer a unique opportunity for learner-focused, team-driven educators. Applicants must have a teaching qualification/license appropriate for the elementary school level, covering all relevant subject areas and child development stages.

We are looking for candidates who:

Are capable of designing and executing a comprehensive teaching plan in line with curriculum maps and textbooks.

Organize learning materials and resources, using a variety of activities and instructional methods to engage and challenge students of all abilities.
Regularly assess students’ performance and progression, maintaining accurate and timely records of student achievement.
Maintain open communication with parents, providing relevant updates, and collaborating effectively with other teachers and administrative staff.
Adhere to teaching standards and safety regulations.
Uphold professional ethics in line with AIS employee guidelines and WASC accreditation standards.
Build trust and positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Serve as a role model for appropriate behavior.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, fostering a team environment through shared expertise and cooperation.
Exhibit energy, resilience, and maintain a sense of humor, especially when facing challenges.
Demonstrate strong personal initiative, planning, and organizational skills.
Commit to ongoing personal and professional development.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:00-17:00
Approximately 220 working days, including 195 student contact days
One-month unpaid summer vacation
After six months of continuous service, staff are entitled to 10 annual discretionary days (increasing every 12 months thereafter).

Location:

Nijigaoka 3-4, Meito-ku, Nagoya
10-minute walk from Hoshigaoka station on the Higashiyama subway line

Remuneration:

New qualified teachers are paid on a salary scale ranging from ¥300,000 - ¥350,000, depending on years of teaching experience.
Additional payments for monthly diligence and daily transportation fees.
A completion payment is provided based on the length of the contract.
The employer contributes equally to health and employment insurances and the pension plan.
