Over the past 6 years the International Yamanote Kindergarten has been expanding it’s Immersion Program. We have gone from having 3 Native English speaking homeroom teachers to 9 this year. Since April 2024, all 12 of our classes have become Immersion classes, with lessons and activities being team-taught mainly in English. We are currently hiring one more creative, active, fun and imaginative teacher to join our team. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
✳︎ Must currently reside in Sapporo / willing to relocate.
✳︎ Must hold a valid working visa (renewal sponsorship available).
✳︎ English level: Native
✳︎ Japanese level: Conversational.
✳︎ Must have a University Degree.
✳︎ Able to commit to minimum 1 year, full-time contract.
✳︎ Must be team-oriented, flexible, and able to adapt to a highly active work environment.
✳︎ Must have at least 2 years of EFL experience (preferably with children 3 ~ 6 years old).
SCHOOL DETAILS:
Located near Sankaku Mountain and Teine Mountain, our school is an 11 minute subway ride from the centre of Sapporo city and less than an hours drive from 6 different ski resorts. We have a swimming pool, small garden area, jungle gym and the school is positioned across the road from a small park that we use throughout the year.
POSITION DETAILS:
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm at our Yamanote school, with some events taking place on weekends throughout the school year.
The position consists of teaching a broad variety of subjects, such as reading, writing and phonics, teaching songs, chants and dances as well as weekly grammar targets, arts & crafts and life skills. Class sizes are typically around 20 children and are ‘team-taught’ with a native-Japanese teacher. Daily duties include playing with and supporting your class with their daily activities, cleaning, providing fun English games/lessons and teaching graduate students once a week. Music, swimming, cooking, crafts, field trips, outdoor activities and festivals also make up a big part of the school year and the successful candidate will be asked to actively contribute ideas for new and existing events and activities.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
✳︎ A one year, full-time contract (renewable on completion).
✳︎ ¥270,000 ~ ¥300,000 monthly salary (based on experience).
✳︎ Enrolment in the Japanese National health insurance scheme.
✳︎ Enrolment in the Japanese pension scheme.
✳︎ Transportation fees (max ¥30,000 per month).
✳︎ National holidays and 10 days paid vacation after 6 months of employment (in line with Japanese Labor Law).
✳︎ Over 30 years’ experience as an International Kindergarten, providing experienced support and advice to teachers.
✳︎ A unique, in-house curriculum that guides teachers whilst encouraging flexibility and personal creativity.
✳︎ Being part of a team of 10 overseas teachers, offering ongoing feedback and support on a daily basis.
START DATE:
The start date for the full-time position is April 1st 2025 (depending on the successful candidates availability).
